BIOGRAPHY

Frank Chen is a specialist colorectal surgeon and endoscopist. He trained at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and attained his Fellowship if the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1993. He completed further specialised colorectal surgery training both in Australia and at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation becoming a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand in 1996.

He is a consultant both at Eastern Health and in private. His past appointments at Eastern health include the positions of; Head of Colorectal Surgery, Supervisor of Colorectal Surgical Training, Director of the Anorectal Physiology Laboratory, Chair of the Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Meetings. He also was invited onto the core committee of the Victorian Branch of AVANT of Medical Experts. He has recently been the chair for a period of 3 years . In 2016, he won the Best Doctors Award as judged by his peers.

Appointments are held at Eastern Health: Box Hill and Healesville Hospitals, Knox Private Hospital and the Epworth Eastern Hospital Campus.

His primary areas of interest are in:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Re-operative and salvage surgery
  • Pelvic floor and anal sphincter disorders and pathology

1. Quality of Life assessment in patients with endometriosis undergoing colorectal surgery.
